New works

Contemporary music has opened up a constantly changing world of sounds and possibilities for me. I enjoy working with new repertoire, discovering different approaches to the flute, and collaborating with composers on new works.

Electronics

I’m currently exploring the relationship between the flute and electronics, from fixed media and live electronics to spatial and electroacoustic performance. I’m especially interested in how technology can change not only the sound of the flute, but also the way we listen and experience a performance.

Flute traditions

My curiosity about the flute extends beyond the modern concert flute. I’m interested in flute traditions from different cultures and in discovering how different instruments approach breath, sound, and musical expression. Instruments I’m currently exploring include shinobue, nokan, ryuteki, quena, and others.
